Accommodation overview: Very attractive character cottage in a beautiful riverside location West Somerton is a small Broadland village tucked into a quiet corner of East Norfolk, super for all bird-watching enthusiasts! It has been featured in the BBC Coast programme and quoted by Nicholas Crane "as my favourite place on the Norfolk Broads". Certainly West Somerton has one of the prettiest Staithes. Families will enjoy days out at the many attractions in the area: try Bewilderwood, great adventure for the children, or a day cruising the Broads. The coast is only five miles away and the choice is quite diverse from the sandy beaches of Cromer and Sheringham, both Blue Flag, to the shingle of Salthouse and the marshes of Blakeney and Cley. The ruins of Baconsthorpe Castle can be found in the adjoining village; alternatively you could walk to Selbrigg Lake where the River Glaven rises. If cycling and walking are your thing, there is an abundance of quiet lane to explore. As its name would suggest, Great Snoring is a charming sleepy village, and an absolutely great place to unwind and recharge your batteries. Some will just savour the peace and quiet of this lovely area of countryside, but do not think that there is nothing to do in the area - far from it! There are many attractions offering excellent opportunities for days out including the sandy beaches at Wells and Holkham, which are within a fifteen minute drive. Shops and pubs are available in nearby Little Walsingham, Holt or in Fakenham, which is just three miles away. The White House is a 15th Century brick and flint farmhouse which has been sympathetically restored to provide spacious family-sized accommodation.
