Located at the epicentre of Norfolk’s finest attractions, guests at Haveringland Hall will find themselves only a short drive away from fine golf at Weston Park and Barnham Broom, and walking and cycling paths such as The Marriots Way, The Bure Valley and Weavers Way. Fly-fishing and coarse fishing is available all year round at Narborough trout and coarse lakes ½-mile away. Lake at house available for fun fishing.
The local area offers wonderful woodland/river walks, and the superb gardens and park at Sandringham can be visited when the Royal Family is away. Good places to visit include Castle Rising and Castle Acre. The coast is only 15 miles and is a haven for bird-watchers, with the nearest RSPB reserve at Snettisham, which also has a beautiful church and Park Farm. The long sweep of sandy beach runs from here to Hunstanton and beyond, from where the Norfolk coast path begins. Medieval Kings Lynn, with its handsome waterfront, shops, inns and restaurants is just 8 miles. Swaffham market town, 6 miles. Shop ¾ mile.

Historical houses abound in the region, with ruins to be found at nearby Castle Rising and Castle Acre. The Queen’s country residence of Sandringham is open to the public (unless a member of the Royal family is in residence) and is just 11 miles away. The market towns of Fakenham and East Dereham are close by and well worth a visit. Excellent trout and coarse fishing nearby. Good bird-watching, golf, sailing, horse riding and antique hunting locally. Shops 2 miles.

The town is served by a unique horse drawn coach service known as ‘The Holt Flyer’ connecting the railway station to the town, which is about three quarters of a mile away, at Kelling. The North Norfolk Railway (the Poppy Line) runs along the Norfolk coast onto Sheringham.
Excellent walking enjoyed from the doorstep, with designated footpaths and Holt Lowes Country Park; an area of SSSI and a tranquil setting of almost 100 acres of mature woodland adjoining the heathland and River Glaven with broadrides and way marked walks. One of the routes is designed for ease of use by the less mobile or for families with pushchairs. Interesting features within the park include totem pole, carved stile, play area and viewing tower.
Good cycling opportunities from the doorstep. Cley-next-the-Sea and Blakeney quay, 5 miles. Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham for excellent sandy beaches, 12 miles. Sandringham Estate which is one of the Queen’s country homes is well worth a visit and is open to the public unless a member of the Royal family is residence. Only an 18-mile drive away is King’s Lynn – a busy town with several splendid Tudor and Georgian buildings and is perfect for menadering down the alleyways that lead back from the pretty waterfront. A short distance is the pretty town of Burnham Thorpe – birthplace of Horatio Nelson and where today in the parish church the lecturn is made out of timbers taken from his famous ship the Victory as well as a small exhibition on his life. Closer to home are the beaches, shops, pubs and restaurants of Thornham (1 mile).
