Brancaster, 8 miles, is a pretty coastal village with superb sailing, and the staithe from which visitors may take boats to the Nature Reserve on Scolt Head Island. Close by are Holkham, with the splendid Palladian Holkham Hall housing a fine collection of art and furniture, and Wells-next-the-Sea, an amiable fishing village with quayside stalls selling freshly caught produce. A short drive away is Sandringham House, magnificent holiday home of the Royal Family since 1861; further inland, within an hour’s drive, are the Broads and the historic city of Norwich.
