Self catering accommodation in Bossiney sleeps 2.
Accommodation overview: A pretty 17th century detached cottage full of charm and character, the old forge was once part of the Earl of Wharncliffe's estate and is set beside a narrow road in the ancient borough of Bossiney, just half a mile from Tintagel, the legendary birthplace of King Arthur and a 10 minute walk from Bossiney Cove.
Sympathetically furnished to compliment many original features, the cottage has slight changes of level and is entered from the road by a few steps leading up to the front porch and an inner glazed door opens directly into a light and sunny sitting room with an electric living flame fire in the stone fireplace, warm and comfortably furnished.
An inner hallway leads to a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath and an attractive double bedroom, with a 5ft bed and deep window seat looking across to the methodist chapel and Bossiney Mound, famed for where Sir Francis Drake was proclaimed MP.
A pleasant dining room, with oil fired Rayburn for background heat in the colder months, still has the original ledge and brace door leading out to an extension at the rear with a bright and spacious modern fitted kitchen with a double oven and a window overlooking the sheltered garden. The back door opens from here to a pretty little cottage garden with mature shrubs and 3 steps leading up to the lawn area surrounded by a cornish stone and hedge border.
Parking for one car is available on the sloping drive at one end of the property. The nearest beach is Bossiney Cove which has fine sand at low tide reached by a 10 minute walk down a fairly steep incline. The famous ruins of Tintagel castle and Merlins sea cave below are approximately 1 and a half miles. King Arthurs Great Halls / Information Centre and a good selection of local shops, pubs and restaurants are within one mile. The attractive NT harbour at Boscastle is 3 miles and the coastal footpath is very close by leading to the dramatic Rocky Valley. St Nectans Glen is approximately 1 mile.
