Accommodation overview: Court Barton is situated in the village of Aveton Gifford adjacent to St. Andrews Church which dates from the 12th century. The 16th Century stone built owner's farmhouse looks down the valley to the Avon estuary and is set within some 8 acres of garden with a duck pond, fields and paddock, all of which is available for guests to enjoy. There are also a number of footpaths and bridle paths surrounding the property. The owners have two ponies (Twinkle and Mickey Mouse), as well as four ducks, a cockerel and several chickens (who lay lovely free range eggs!), and two friendly guinea pigs (Tuffers and Ginger). Aveton Gifford lies within the Avon Valley in the heart of the South Hams and is an ideal base to explore South Devon. The village boasts a friendly pub with restaurant and pool table. Bar meals are also offered and children are very welcome (www.the-fishermansrest.co.uk) Launching access for boats is available on the river Avon which meanders out to Bantham beach and the sea beyond. Accommodation overview: Formerly the Victory Inn dating back to the 17th century, this grade II listed corner cottage with considerable character is set in a cobbled alleyway leading from the bustling main street in the heart of the delightful resort of St Ives. Just a few paces from the picturesque harbour and close to the shops, the renovated and comfortably furnished accommodation is on three floors with sea views over the neighbouring rooftops from the top two floors.
Entered directly from the street, half a dozen steep steps lead up to the front door which opens to a hallway with coat pegs. A wide carpeted staircase leads straight up from the hall to a half landing, a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath, and then to the first floor. Leading off are a neatly fitted kitchen with modern units and a cushioned window seat overlooking the cobbled lane below, and a warm and cosy living room with a cottage style lounge suite, dining furniture and glimpses of the sea over the rooftops.
On this level there are also two double bedded rooms with pine bedroom furniture and partial views of the harbour and sea over the rooftops, the larger of the two with a vanity basin and cushioned window seat. A small doorway on the landing opens to a very steep narrow staircase with a rope hand rail and leads directly up to an attic room set under a low, sloping, beamed ceiling with comfortable seating and stunning views from a dormer window over the roofs to the attractive harbour and beyond to St Ives Bay. There are four portable heaters to make the cottage feel cosy at any time of the year.
It is possible to unload close by but parking is in any of the pay and display car parks within the town. All the amenities of the town are on the doorstep with an extensive range of galleries, restaurants, pubs and cafes, and there are a choice of four magnificent beaches all within easy walking distance. The original pub sign now resides in the local St Ives Museum, and both the Tate Gallery on Porthmeor beach and the Barbara Hepworth Museum are a short stroll away. Fishing boats still operate from the lovely harbour as do pleasure boat trips and self hire boats, there is a leisure centre with swimming pool nearby and scenic circular and cliff walks around St Ives.
Please note: Weekly car park ticket currently costs £35. Towels not available. 2 oil filled radiators and 2 electric convector heaters (inclusive). Not suitable for children under 8.

Ideally situated to enjoy the dramatic north Cornish Coastline, rugged moorland and fishing villages. Over The Hedge offers comfortable and cosy accommodation year round. A canopied porch and glazed door opens directly into the light and airy living room comprising the ground floor with slate flooring and rural views from the two windows. A modern well fitted kitchen is set to one side with dining furniture and comfortable lounge seating arranged before an attractive open stone fireplace with a woodburning stove and original clome oven.
A winding carpeted staircase leads up to the first floor where you will find the attractive double bedroom with kingsize bed and dual aspect overlooking the garden to one side and surrounding countryside to the other. A door from the bedroom and landing gives access to the En-suite shower room W.C with hand basin and heated towel rail.
From the living room a glazed door at the rear leads out to a paved patio and onto the tiered landscaped lawn bordered by a Cornish hedge on both sides, fruit trees and a wild garden at the top. To one side the garden continues to the front paved patio and small lawn enclosed by trellis fencing. There is a gated drive to the side with parking for 1 car.
Hallworthy 2 miles has a country pub and Marshgate 2.5 miles with its P.O store is the nearest village for your day to day needs. Wainhouse Corner 5 miles has a pub, garage and P.O store. The nearest beach is 7 miles away at Crackington Haven with the resort of Bude with its shops, restaurants, tennis courts and watersports is within a 30 minute drive. Trelash is on the Cornish Way cycle network and the south west coast path at Boscastle gives access to some dramatic coastal walks with Bodmin Moor providing many rugged scenic walks nearby. The historic houses & gardens at Pencarrow, Prideaux & Lanhydrock are all within a 40 minute drive. The coastal towns of Boscastle and Tintagel are 7 & 10 miles respectively and the picturesque harbour village of Port Isaac famous for Doc Martin is within a 30 minute drive.

This comfortable double glazed single storey cottage in lovely countryside, recently converted from a 17th century barn with exposed beams and quarry tile flooring throughout, is set to one side of the owners home around an attractive courtyard.
Entered from the patio area, one step leads up to the front door which opens directly into a light and pleasant sitting room with a restful seating area and sash windows that look out over the courtyard garden which is for the sole use of the visitors, and an arched doorway leads through to a traditionally furnished dining room with a well equipped kitchen area.
At one end of the cottage is a twin bedded room with an en suite bathroom W.C. with wash basin and a bath with hand shower fitment, and at the other end is a bedroom with a 5ft double, a door out to the enclosed garden, and an en suite shower room W.C. with hand basin. There are no internal steps making the accommodation ideal for the less mobile, and parking for one car is in a garage at the rear of the property.
The area abounds with country footpaths and woodland walks. Within a 10 mile radius there are several lovely beaches on the south coast, Newquay on the north coast, and many gardens open to the public including The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Trewithen. The nearest pub and village store / P.O. is in Grampound Road 2 miles, larger shops are available in St Austell approximately 6 miles.

The popular beaches at Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands as well as the nature reserve at Slapton Ley are within a pleasant 10 minute drive. There is also direct access to public footpaths with a beautiful walk to Blackawton highly recommended, and if all this were not enough, Woodlands Leisure Park is just 5 minutes drive away.
