Accommodation overview: The pretty stone cottages at Northway are set in 5 acres of grounds within half a mile of the dramatic coastal footpath above Peppercombe’s National Trust shingle beach and within 5 miles of the glorious sandy beach at Westward Ho! Most of the cottages open off a delightful flower filled courtyard whilst some look out towards the sea. All of the cottages are well furnished and equipped and some have their own garden. Visitors enjoy use of a superb leisure complex housing an indoor heated swimming pool and spa with full changing and shower facilities (open 9:00am-7:30pm) a fitness area and games room with table football (coin-operated) pool table table tennis and toddlers play area. For children there is a well-equipped adventure play area and an area for ball games and they will surely enjoy stroking the tame rabbits and goats. Christmas decorations a real tree and champagne are supplied for Christmas bookings. This is a wonderful walking area both on the coast and along the nearby Tarka Trail. From the lane a rough track (not suitable for toddlers or the infirm) leads down to the coastal path from where there are magnificent views across Bideford Bay towards Clovelly and the beaches of Devon’s northern coastline. There is plenty to see and do nearby – The Big Sheep and Milky Way the new Atlantic Village and the picture postcard village of Clovelly (6 miles) are just some of the attractions. Bude’s superb sandy beach and resort amenities are within a half hour drive. Golf and riding are available locally and the Tamar Lakes offer sailing and wind surfing. Nearest pub serving food in Horns Cross 0.25 miles.

Stunning views over river and dale can be admired from many of the rooms, and walks beckon from the doorstep, whether it be a gentle stroll along the river bank or a bracing hike over the fells. Close by lies the village of Kilnsey, with its unusual glacially sculptured overhang of rock (Kilnsey Crag), which proves popular with climbers. The National Park information point at Kilnsey Park provides information on the Crag and the surrounding area, whilst a trout farm offers a wealth of interest for families with its conservation and nature trail, trout viewing and feeding areas, as well as fly fishing on two lakes. Geared for children as well, there is a fun-fishing area for the under twelves and an adventure playground. With an estate shop, restaurant and coffee shop on-site, a complete day out can be planned in conjunction with pony trekking at Conistone. Beyond Kilnsey, stunning scenery and wonderful views can be savoured at Littondale, where Pen-y-ghent looms in the background, and idyllic Arncliffe with its village green, church and pub is only a 20-minute walk along the river and proves a popular refreshment point for walkers. West of Wharfedale, the limestone features of Malhamdale attract many visitors – Malham Cove, Malham Tarn and Gordale Scar acting as the magnets. Consisting of a sheer escarpment, crowned by a fractured pavement, there are also waterfalls and dry valleys to take in whilst walking in this awe-inspiring area. The traditional market towns of Skipton (with its well-preserved medieval castle) and Hawes (with Wensleydale Creamery and Ropemakers Museum) both make for pleasant days out. Grassington is a popular local village, easily accessible from Riverdale at only 8 miles, making a pleasant bike ride. Shop 4 miles, pub 1½ miles.

The barn adjoining the Farmhouse has each been sensitively reconstructed in recent years to provide a very high standard of accommodation whilst retaining many of the traditional features and characteristics of the original buildings.In spite of the rural location Little Cotton is easily accessible and close to local facilities - the 'Park and Ride' bus service into Dartmouth, as well as the town's Leisure Centre and largest supermarkets (Sainsburys and Lidl) are within a short walking distance. Little Cotton is an ideal retreat for families with a range of facilities available to keep children of all ages entertained. There is a large grass area for ball games with small child friendly goal posts, a 12' trampoline (with safety enclosure) and an activity fort with swings, climbing frame and slide will keep them busy for hours! Additionally there is an indoor play area with a multi-activity table (tennis/snooker, football etc), many board games, a wide selection of toys for all ages, books and colouring and various outdoor games (balls etc). There is even a large tub of spare wellies, just in case! Wii Games Stations are provided in both properties making it ideal accommodation for any time of the year (Christmas decorations are also provided). Whilst each of these areas can be seen from both properties there is also a picnic bench - with picnic crockery provided - from where parents can sit and watch their children.From the courtyard an opening leads through to a natural meadow and pretty pond, with picnic benches to sit and enjoy the wildlife. All areas are fenced for safety but young children must be supervised at all times.

The original manor house was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1087. The accommodation ranges from the Old Hall sleeping up to 11 in period splendour, with its own imposing front lawns and side garden, through to the cosy Crow’s Nest for 2 persons, nestling in the courtyard with a patio overlooking the orchard.
