The nearest pub is 3 miles, at Abbey Town, with many more amenities in Silloth including leisure facilities, restaurants, pubs and shops. Brook House is delightfully spacious and has been thoughtfully prepared for holiday letting by its new owners. The practical layout, with spacious kitchen/diner, is great for family meals and to catch up on the days events whilst the large tiered patio area is sure to be well used in the warmer months for meals al fresco. It is located in a very convenient position on the edge of Keswick, a pleasant 10 minute stroll through the park takes you to the town centre, 400 yards from the start of the walk up Latrigg and Skiddaw and easy access from the A66. They retained the character, with vaulted ceilings and wooden beams and complemented it with the use of high quality furnishings throughout. Lorton, Crummock Water and Buttermere are nearby, with spectacular walks on the surrounding fells. The nearest pub serving bar meals is 2 miles and a wealth of amenities are available in the vibrant market town of Cockermouth, 4 miles. Accommodation overview: A mere mile from the newly developed and renowned Grizedale Forest Visitors Centre, Satterthwaite is an ideal location for those energetic guests who enjoying walking, cycling and generally the great outdoors. Go out of the front door and take 10 paces and your on one of Grizedales major cycling/walking routes, with the benefit of being able to pop into the new cafe at the Visitors Centre which serves fantastic food, beer, wine and soft drinks for the kids. You can experience Go Ape and for the little ones, there is a fantastic activity area with climbing frames etc. The village is small, yet friendly and you are sure to get a warm welcome at the local watering hole, which is particularly cosy in the winter with its big open fire. Within 4/5 miles you have the nearby villages of Hawkshead (perhaps visit via a great walk through the forest) and Coniston which are also fine examples of Lakeland villages, both with a good deal of attractions for all the family, from Beatrix Potters home to the Ruskin Museum . Winnowing Barn, a former bank barn, sits at the edge of the village, in a small quiet courtyard, and is arranged over three floors. The new owners have refurbished the property to a high standard and have ensured that modern fittings (including the addition of wireless broadband) combine well with the traditional features creating a warm, homely feel throughout. Fine views can be enjoyed from the lounge and front bedrooms, and the enclosed rear patio is sure to be put to good use on many occasions.

There is direct access to forest trails for walking and mountain biking and a high wire forest adventure course. Sailing is permitted on Bassenthwaite, 1 mile and kayaks, canoes and sailing boats available at the marinas on Derwentwater, 2 miles. Ideally placed for exploring the delights of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, Windermere is a mere 25 minutes drive away with Sedbergh and the impressive Howgill fells a 10 minute walk from the door. Once home to Elizabeth Gaunt, the last woman to be burned at the stake at Tyburn and a principal hiding place of Prince Charlie, The Tower House has a significant history, and the property retains the tower, which was used as a lookout for raiders from the Borders. Comfortable furnishings with many personal touches blend well with original features of oak panelling, flagstone floors and exposed stonework. The accommodation is spacious and flexible offering plenty of opportunity for escaping the rest of the party, both inside and out, to sit quietly and absorb the ambience of this truly unique house.
