Alston is the highest market town in England, with steep cobbled streets and an interesting variety of shops and galleries. Crisscrossed with bridleways, ancient tracks, Englands highest footpath, the Pennine Way and the C2C cycle route, the area is ideal for walking, cycling, pot holing and pony trekking.
