As well as the wonderful gardens to relax in, the estate also owns a mature beech and oak woodland which is home to deer and red squirrels. Keswick and the surrounding area provides some of the Lake District’s most spectacular scenery. The four highest peaks top out at over 3000 feet with many other famous fells lagging not far behind. The quite different lakes of Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite, Thirlmere and Ullswater provide superb backdrops for a day’s cruising and walking. Beatrix Potter loved this part of Lakeland, the sheer beauty and tranquillity that so greatly inspired her remains unchanged to this day. High Cunsey nestles on the shores of Lake Windermere, the farmhouse and cottage sharing their own rather special piece of Lake frontage and shoreline.
