The Farmers Arms, just across the road from the cottage, has been trading since the 16th century and serves excellent bar meals and local ales. Hidden Cottage is beautifully presented and very comfortable and has all the essential ingredients you would expect of a quality holiday cottage; open beams, a log burning stove and a delightful elevated garden which has fine, open views across nearby farmland. Accommodation overview: This former Cumbrian farmhouse enjoys a spectacular remote location, high up on Bampton Common among the Lake Districts eastern fells and close to Ullswater and Haweswater. Carhullan was completely modernised in 2008 by the owners, who retained the character of the property and complemented it with furnishings and equipment of the highest quality. The location of Carhullan, two miles from the village of Bampton and eight miles from Penrith is a perfect peaceful retreat, yet only 15 minutes from the M6. It is accessed along a no through road where it is situated at the very end, approximately two miles. There are walks from the doorstep, over High Street to Ullswater and across Bampton Common to Haweswater. Bampton has a village tea room with shop and the Mardale Inn serves good food and real ale.

Accommodation overview: Croft House is a traditional Cross Passage farmhouse, dating back to the 17th Century. It is a Grade II listed building. The Cross Passage refers to the days when it separated the animals from the rest of the house - in those days everything lived under the same roof, the animals providing heat for the rest of the house! Nowadays the animals live separately.. New owners upgraded the house in 2011 into a very comfortable and welcoming house which is full of character and traditional features, including large stone fire places and walls, with lots of oak beams. Situated in the hamlet of Berrier, inside the National Park, Croft House is within 10 minutes drive of the M6 and close to Ullswater and Keswick. The nearest pub is the Sportsman which serves bar meals, approximately 1 mile away.

It benefits from a stunning location at Waberthwaite 4.5 miles from the beach and sea in the Western Lake District and with the beautiful Eskdale Valley on the doorstep. This little hamlet has a pub providing good food, a shop and post office on Woodalls farm which is famous for its Cumberland sausage and bacon, by appointment of the Royal Family. Row farm has 175 acres, most of which guests are free to walk across, and breeds suckler cows and sheep. The farmer is happy to show guests round and children will love the spring time when sheep are lambing and the cows are calving.
