Excellent walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep and a round or two at Windermere Golf Club has to be one of the most interesting 18 holes in the area, the scenery simply breathtaking. Cleabarrow Cottage enjoys magnificent views across open countryside to the Langdales beyond and has large, mature gardens, some lawn, some terrace, from where to sit and watch a host of wildlife. The main bedroom has the advantage of a balcony with furniture, again with superb garden and fell views, and is sure to be utilised at every opportunity, either for breakfast or a nightcap. You can walk or cycle from the doorstep and sail on the lake at Bassenthwaite. There is an art gallery and coffee shop in the village and pubs, restaurants and a shop in the neighbouring village of Braithwaite and an abundance of amenities in nearby Keswick. It may sound like a large furry mountain animal, but Yan Yak is actually Cumbrian dialect for One Oak. It has and interesting history, originally part of the very first Jennings Brewery and dates back to the turn of the 19th Century. in 1875 the brewery relocated to Cockermouth and continues brewing real ale to this day - daily tours of the brewery are available. Buttermere, Loweswater and Crummock are nearby, a peaceful corner of the English Lakes with unspoilt scenery.
