Accommodation overview: This traditional cottage dates back to the 18th century, set in the Heart of walkers paradise Rosthwaite with the fells circumscribing the village at the foot of the Borrowdale Valley. The property oozes olde worlde charm with each room having original beams Nokka still retains its slate flagged floor. Nokka was originally a yeomans or statesmans house ( farmhouse) and following that it became an inn. In 1769 the poet Thomas Gray went on a tour of the lakes and Nokka is mentioned in his Journal which was published in1775 after his death in 1771. In more recent times Nokka was drawn by A Wainwright and can be seen in his book The Coast to Coast Walk.

Newbiggin Hall is steeped in history and was built originally as a pele tower in 1304, a place of refuge from Scottish raiders and feuding border families, providing shelter for humans and animals. Subsequent re-building and additions in the 17th and 18th century have created a handsome country house. The location is perfect as a base to visit the Lakes, Carlisle, Hadrians Wall, the Scottish Borders and the Eden Valley. The nearest pub is approx. 1 mile and Carlisle has an abundance of amenities, great shopping, superb dining and places of interest such as the Cathedral, Castle and Tullie House Museum. The extensive 3 acre garden provide an idyllic spot to relax and unwind, with very large lawns, flower borders and a woodland which kids will love to play in. There is a lovely 3 mile walk from Newbiggin Hall which takes you across the river Petteril, through woodland and open countryside.

Accommodation overview: Walkers of the Pennine Way will be familiar with the pretty village of Dufton and the Stag Inn at the heart of the village. Stag Cottage adjoins the Inn and both are owned by the same family. The delightful sandstone cottage was refurbished in 2006 with modern furnishings which compliment the features of this converted stable. The Inn itself is a traditional pub which dates back to the turn of the 18th century, it is a Free House serving real ale with a reputation for good food, you can choose from the pub menu or a la carte, it also has the benefit of a beer garden. Dufton lies in the Eden Valley on the Western edge of the Pennine Hills, with an abundance of walks and cycle rides from the doorstep. The Lake District National Park is within 30 minutes drive and the Eden Valley is renowned for the fishing and peace and tranquillity. A five minute drive will take you into the historic market town of Appleby where you will find more amenities, including shops, restaurants and pubs.

Accommodation overview: Broughton-in-Furness is well situated a few miles west of nearby Coniston, is becoming a favoured destination for the more discerning visitor, who appreciate its tranquil charm and acknowledge it as part of the Undiscovered Lakeland. Coniston and the wonderful surrounding fell ranges and lakes can be explored along with the nearby River Duddon immortalised by Wordsworth as one of the most scenic rivers in England.Embraced by this beautiful countryside, Broughton is becoming increasingly popular being well located, not far from the busier towns of Ambleside and Windermere; there are some excellent beeches nearby to the west, and to the south Ulverston is a vibrant larger town. Broughtons focal point is the Georgian market square with its obelisk erected in 1810 to commemorate the jubilee of King George III. Nearby old stone slabs can still be seen where traders laid out their wares, as can the stocks in which wrongdoers were punished.
