Accommodation overview: Lindale is a delightful village in the south Lakes, only 2 miles from Grange Over Sands which can be reached in 5 minutes by car or 40 minutes walk for those more energetic of you. Grange was a popular resort of the Victorians and still today retains an historic feel with the lovely promenade fringed by delightful tea rooms and craft shops. Lindale is well placed for exploring all of the Lakes and Furness Peninsula, Windermere Lake being only only 15 minutes drive. Accommodation overview: This 18th century cottage was newly refurbished in 2008 and further improved in 2010, yet retains its original charm and character, with beamed ceilings and feature stone walls. Windy Nook is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Pooley Bridge, on the north eastern edge of Ullswater, one of the Lake Districts most attractive lakes, at the point where the River Eamont and Ullswater meet. The 16th century bridge over the Eamont gives the village its name and offers beautiful views of the lake and the neighbouring fells. The village and the surrounding area are also of historical interest. Dunmallard Hill, adjacent to the village was the site of an Iron Age Fort and is one of a number of ancient sites dotted around the locality. The village has three good quality pubs which serve food together with tea rooms and a small number of shops providing essentials from groceries and out door equipment to souvenirs. The Ullswater steamers also depart from here providing trips along the seven mile lake to Howtown and Glenridding.

Now a cosy 1 bedroom holiday cottage, Galloway Cottage is situated in the village of Crosby, 1 mile from the Cumbrian coast and 2 miles from the harbour town of Maryport. The beach is a fantastic place to walk your dog with views across the Solway to the Scottish Hills. Good food and drink is available at the Stag Inn, within 400 yards. Maryport has a Sea Life Centre, museums, a marina and a selection of shops. The seaside town of Allonby is approximately 4 miles and the spectacular Lake District Park is on the doorstep.

Accommodation overview: Backbarrow, 1 1/2 miles from the South of lake Windermere, was home to the Backbarrow Ironworks who produced domestic iron goods such as kettles and box irons but were also renowned for the manufacture of cannons and other armaments. The days of industry are long gone and Backbarrow is now a super village visited by holidaymakers exploring the nearby Haverthwaite Railway which is within walking distance of the cottage on the A590 and offers special events such as Pensioner, Thomas, Diesel and Santa weekends. Another nearby attraction is The Lakeland motor museum recently opened and within walking distance of the property. Furness Wildlife Park is nearby for an enjoyable day out. The property is situated in an area that is accessible to all areas of the National Park by either car or public transport.
