The villages of Brandeston and Cretingham are between four and five miles south west of the historic market town of Framlingham, with its famous castle (Mary Queen of Scots was a prisoner there) and full complement of shops and pubs. Brandeston and Cretingham are surrounded by rolling countryside and each has a popular pub, a small village shop and a church. The Cretingham Golf Club is open to non-members and has a pay and play course. The Potash is situated between Brandeston and Cretingham in a large garden, with views over fields and the upper reaches of the River Deben. The house is detached and was mainly constructed in the 16th century.
