Newton Reigny is a quiet retreat in a great location, 15 minutes drive to Ullswater, easy access from the M6 and plenty of amenities in the nearby market town of Penrith. Low level walks toward Walna Scar and in to the village itself are ideal for first time visitors and, for the more experienced, Coniston Old Man must not be missed. Nord Vue Barn, as the name implies, was an 18th century barn which the owners converted to an extremely spacious holiday cottage, with the best of traditional and modern features. Accommodation overview: This former farm workers cottage dating back over 250 years has been sympathetically restored to offer cosy and characterful accommodation location at the foot of Blencathra, 5 miles from Keswick. Threlkeld is steeped in history with its church dating back to 1573 and its two pubs back to 1688.The pubs serve good food and real ale and are only a few minutes walk from the cottage. Blease Cottage is an ideal location to enjoy the peaceful countryside with its many walks from the door, as well as golf and cycling opportunities.There is walking from the cottage to suit all, a level railway path into Keswick, walks on the fells around the village and more challenging walks up onto Blencathra and Skiddaw. The cottage which dates back to 1868 was formerly a barn which has been converted into two dwellings and has been fully modernised and refurbished to the same high standard as the owners other properties, Millerdale and Kiln How in Threlkeld. The village boasts a shop, 2 pubs serving bar meals and a restaurant all within walking distance and all accept pets. Keswick is only 2 miles away where you will find an abundance of amenities and visitor attractions. You can walk from the door in Braithwaite and there are some of the best mountain bike tracks in Whinlatter forest. There are fell views from the bedroom windows. Newbiggin Hall is steeped in history and was built originally as a pele tower in 1304, a place of refuge from Scottish raiders and feuding border families, providing shelter for humans and animals. Subsequent re-building and additions in the 17th and 18th century have created a handsome country house. The location is perfect as a base to visit the Lakes, Carlisle, Hadrians Wall, the Scottish Borders and the Eden Valley. The nearest pub is approx. 1 mile and Carlisle has an abundance of amenities, great shopping, superb dining and places of interest such as the Cathedral, Castle and Tullie House Museum. The extensive 3 acre garden provide an idyllic spot to relax and unwind, with very large lawns, flower borders and a woodland which kids will love to play in.
