Iken is a reputed base of Boudicca and the marauding Iceni tribes who made good use of the commanding position on the south side of the Alde Estuary. Later, in 869AD, a Viking sailing fleet destroyed the 7th Century monastery at Iken. In the 19th Century sailing barges used the river to trade corn and coal between Snape, London and the east coast ports. Now, you will see the occasional pleasure boat whilst taking in the highly regarded SSSI wildlife habitat and the stunning estuary scenery. Hunstanton is a popular traditional seaside town, with a long sandy beach backed by distinctive striped cliffs. There are reminders of its Victorian origins including the promenade, the large green and the attractive esplanade gardens. Little Snoring and Great Snoring always raise a smile. Little Snoring is the larger of the two and is well known locally for its distinctive church. Situated just a few miles from the North Norfolk Coast, surrounded by lovely countryside, with lots for families to do, it is an ideal holiday location for exploring this part of the county. The market town of Fakenham is just a couple of miles away and its weekly Thursday market is well worth a visit. The Georgian town of Holt with its diverse shopping and cafe-style atmosphere is a great place to explore.

Buntings is a detached house situated in a quiet location on the outskirts of the village, accessed by a private drive. It is a comfortable property that is ideal for families or groups of friends. Strumpshaw is midway between Norwich and Great Yarmouth; it is situated on the highest area of land in the Norfolk Broads, but its main claim to fame is as the home of the RSPB reserve at Strumpshaw Fen. Here you may see marsh harriers gliding over the reed beds or hear the booming of a bittern. The village is also the home of Strumpshaw Hall Steam Museum which is well worth a visit. The beaches of the east coast are a short drive away or you can jump on a train from the neighbouring village of Lingwood and enjoy a day exploring the lovely city of Norwich.
