Self catering accommodation in Portknockie sleeps 6.
Features include: Non Smoking Fishing near by Beach close by Easy Walking Pub near by Pets allowed Parking Available Golf near by Has a Garden
Accommodation overview: Cowrie Cottage is a pretty, traditional stone fishermans cottage situated just a few steps from beaches of Portknockie. The cottage takes its name from the cowrie shell, which is avidly searched for and can be found on the nearby shoreline. Cowries have been valued for centuries in many parts of the world. In China and Africa they were used as currency (the Chinese character for money is a cowrie shaped shell) and these marine gastropods are still sought by collectors today. There is a collection of these tiny, ribbed shells left in the cottage and visitors are welcome to add to the collection (or take their finds home as a unique memento!). The caring owners have upgraded and refurbished this lovely cottage over the years and it now provides a high standard of accommodation, whilst retaining many attractive original features, including stripped pine doors. With sleeping accommodation for 6 people, together with two lounges and a separate dining room, it offers an ideal holiday for a larger family or combined holiday.
