Accommodation overview: Offerance Farm Cottage is a lovely traditional style semi detached property located within 80 acres of working farmland. Situated at the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, the cottage is only 2 miles from the small village of Gartmore. The cottage has a lovely lounge with wood burning stove, making it feel warm and welcoming. There is a separate sun lounge enjoying the view across the garden. The neat kitchen is fully equipped and there is a separate dining room. The double bedroom is on the ground floor and the twin bedroom and large bathroom are on the first floor. The rear garden is private, with outdoor furniture and fenced off along the river bank. There is shared use of the front gravel courtyard and a large raised deck area providing beautiful views over surrounding countryside to the Campsite Fells and Ben Lomond. The farm has a herd of Highland cattle. The river, 'Kelty Water', flows directly behind the cottage, which eventually leads into the River Forth. This is a fantastic location for outdoor enthusiasts; the vast Queen Elizabeth Forest is right on the doorstep, with endless miles of forest trails to explore, both walking and cycling. The Trossachs has spectacular mountains to climb such as Ben Lomond, Ben A'an, Ben Venue and Ben Ledi. This area has an abundance of wildlife to spot; ospreys, red squirrels and pine martens to name a few. There are many lochs to discover and Scotland's only "lake" - Lake of Monteith is close by. This stunning lake is famous for its fishing and the Inchmahome Priory is located on its small island. There are lots of activities for all ages and interests including pony trekking and sailing. Accommodation overview: Set in stunning open countryside close to the pretty coastal village of Catterline, Brewlaw Cottage offers comfortable and well presented single storey holiday accommodation. The patio area takes advantage of the surrounding countryside, with views towards the sea in the distance. Catterline, well known locally for the Creel Inn and its excellent seafood, is only 1 mile away. Stonehaven has lots to offer 6 miles away, with a good selection of shops, an open air swimming pool and a very picturesque harbour, where you can sample some real ale! Just outside Stonehaven is Dunnottar Castle; this dramatic ruin is steeped in history. As you wander around the extensive buildings you are almost surrounded by sea with the cliffs below. The north east coastal trail runs for 165 miles, where you will find many interesting villages, fine sandy beaches and coves all waiting to be explored, you may even be lucky enough to spot bottle nose dolphins, seals, osprey or puffins. Nature lovers will feel very at home here with Fowlsheugh RSPB reserve being only a few miles away - the spectacular cliffs are packed with 130,000 seabirds, including razorbills, puffin and guillemot. Montrose Basin nature reserve is just 20 miles south, the centre provides superb views across the tidal basin, which inhabits seals, herons, eider and waders. Osprey can be seen in the summer and pink-foot geese in the winter. 20 miles to the north is Aberdeen, with its stunning granite architecture. Aberdeen has much to offer with a good selection of shops, restaurants and attractions. For the more adventurous there are lots of opportunities locally for walking and cycling and a number of golf courses the closest being the challenging course at Stonehaven with stunning cliff top views. Accommodation overview: Nestling in the peaceful surroundings of Glenbuchat in the Eastern foothills of the Cairngorm National Park are Kirkton Steading and Kirkton Cottage. On either side of Glenbuchat are the quiet villages of Strathdon and Glenkindie. Strathdon offers a shop and a post office, while Glenkindie has a petrol station, which houses a shop and post office and a hotel which serves excellent food. There are a great number of outdoor pursuits to be enjoyed including salmon and sea trout fishing in the river Dee and river Don (permits available locally), cycling on the miles of cycle path, horse riding through spectacular scenery and golfing on a choice of courses. Walkers are well catered for, whether you would like a leisurely stroll on forest trails or take on the challenge of some of Scotland's highest mountains (Munro's) you won't be disappointed.
