Accommodation overview: This delightful 200-year-old cottage nestles in the pretty village of Combeinteignhead, only 2 miles from the seaside village of Shaldon. Hazelbrook Cottage, one of a row, was once part of the old bakery for the village and retains many original features including original beams and open fire. The holiday property is very spacious and has been furnished and decorated to a very good standard. There is a small lawned garden with views over fields. This makes an ideal base for families and friends to get together. The local pub, dating back to the 17th century, is a few doors from the cottage and serves fabulous food and real ales; there is also live acoustic music on certain days. There are many walks that can be taken from the cottage. Teign Estuary is a great place for bird watching and nature lovers. Teignmouth is only 5 miles away, with many shops, the pier and theatre. Places like Branscombe, Seaton with its famous Tramway and Sidmouth are all within a car drive. Crealy Adventure Park, ideal for children, is close by near Exeter 15 miles. Paignton Zoo is worth a visit, and there are many NT places to visit. Dartmouth steam train in Paignton leads to Kingswear where a ferry can be caught over to Dartmouth. Dartmoor, with its heather clad tors and ponies, is very close to the cottage. The market town of Newton Abbot is 2 miles away; there is a market on a Saturday and a local farmers market on a Tuesday. Torquay is 6 miles away; here there are ferries over to Brixham, a lovely day out. Shops 1 mile, pub 10 yards.

Accommodation overview: This 17th-century thatched Devon longhouse is situated in one of Devon’s prettiest villages. One of a cluster of thatched cottages, it is furnished and decorated to a high standard, with beams and antiques adding to its ‘old-world’ charm.
The lovely Teign estuary is within walking distance and the delightful sheltered cove of Maidencombe beach lies just 2 miles away. Teignmouth, a resort made popular in the first half of the 19th century, and visited by the poet John Keats, is 4 miles distant and further on along the coast, the more sedate resort of Dawlish can be found, the seafront of which is spanned by a granite railway viaduct built by Brunel. The so-called English Riviera, embracing Torquay, Paignton and Brixham is within a short drive and enjoys a mild climate, making it popular with holidaymakers. The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway runs daily during the summer from Paignton’s station near the harbour and connects the town with Goodrington Sands, before running alongside the Dart Estuary to Kingswear and the historic nautical town of Dartmouth in its beautiful setting. Places of interest nearby include historic houses and castles. Babbacombe Model Village and the Babbacombe Pottery, with Kents Cavern also worthy of a visit. Consisting of two parallel caves with stalactites and illuminated by flood-lighting, the caves aroused great archaeological interest in the 19th century, when remains of people believed to have been among the earliest inhabitants of Britain were discovered there. Dartmoor lies 8 miles away and represents southern England’s greatest expanse of wilderness, roamed by wild ponies and sheep. Good walking locally and many NT properties to visit. Shops 1 mile, two award-winning pubs serving food, the nearest being 200 yards away.
