Accommodation overview: In a tranquil setting, surrounded by unspoilt countryside on the Somerset Levels, this beautifully presented, detached barn conversion, dating back to 1867, has undergone sympathetic and extensive renovation. The property has been featured in the 25 Beautiful Homes magazine (July 2008) and the Homebuilding & Renovating magazine (June 2006). Set in the grounds of the owners’ home, the barn is approached by a sweeping private driveway and boasts its own garden of approximately ¼ acre, with mature trees and flower beds. Moorhouse Barn enjoys wonderful views of Glastonbury Tor from the copse adjacent to the property, where sunsets can be watched. The Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels offer excellent walking opportunities whilst horse riding and cycling are also available. Golf is available locally, or, for the fishing enthusiast, there is the River Brue nearby.
The cathedral city of Wells is just 7 miles, and Cheddar, with its famous gorge, is within an easy drive, offering some excellent day trips. There are many National Trust properties and gardens in the area including Montecute House, Stourhead, West Pennard Court Barn, King Johns Hunting Lodge, Treasurer’s House, Barrington Court and Stoke-sub-Hamdon Priory to name a few.
The North Somerset Coast can be reached within one hour. Numerous country pubs and restaurants are within easy reach. Shop ¼ mile.
