Accommodation overview: One of the most attractive cottages in the picturesque village of St. Abbs, this charming detached house nestles into the hillside above the harbour. The cliffs to the north are home to a variety of sea birds and a nature reserve has been set up there. St Abbs is still an active fishing harbour and is also a diving centre. There are lovely coastal walks and plenty of places of interest to visit. This old fisherman's cottage has lovely views to the sea - smaller side windows face the harbour and the owner thoughtfully provides a telescope for visitors to watch all the quayside activities. The cottage is light, airy and comfortable, with much homely character and charm, ideal for a family holiday. At the front of the cottage, beside a path down to the harbour, there is a patio area with garden seat, a sun-trap for outdoor relaxing. Visitors park up the hill and walk down the path (30 yards) to reach the cottage. Shops 100 yards.

Home to Concorde and many other aircraft the Museum of Flight (9 miles) is well worth exploring and at the Seabird Centre at North Berwick visitors can watch the puffins nesting on Bass Rock or gannets diving into the sea. Musselburgh Racecourse (24 miles) offers a great day out and horse riding tennis cycle hire and an indoor swimming pool are all found in and around Dunbar (1 mile) which also offers a selection of shops pubs and restaurants as well as a station for the 20 minute train journey to the centre of beautiful Edinburgh city.

Surrounded by mile after mile of beautiful rural vistas where the sight and sound of a car is a rarity, Luckenburn will most certainly appeal to those yearning to escape from it all. With no TV reception available, the peace and tranquillity is a haven in which to unwind and refresh; grazing sheep an abundance of wild-life, including deer, badgers and birds of prey providing their own form of magical entertainment. Yet Luckenburn snuggles in a unique location easily accessible at only 10 miles east of the A68, just over the border into Scotland. Access to it is on a good single track road with the final approach being via a half mile farm track so waterproof footwear in wet weather is recommended for gate-opening moments.
