Within easy reach are the ancient sites of Silbury Hill, West Kennet Long Barrow, Avebury Stone Circle/village and several iron-age forts. On the downs are white horses, ancient routes and the country’s main area for the appearance of mysterious crop-circles. Beautiful Saversnake Forest and the Kennet and Avon Canal are just minutes away. Just a short drive to the north are the Cotswolds, to the west is beautiful Bath with its pale gold architecture, to the east is Hungerford with its many antique shops, and to the south is the cathedral city of Salisbury as well as Stonehenge.
