Seals, dolphins, whales and otters are all regularly seen, together with numerous sea birds, including ospreys. There are also a number of cruises available from Banff and MacDuff to encounter the sea life close to hand. The crystal clear rivers in this part of the Highlands ensured the development of the whisky trade and there are many famous distilleries to visit along the nearby "Whisky Trail".
