Definitely worth a visit, particularly during the hop festival during the first weekend in September, celebrating the golden age of hop picking. Enjoy oysters at Whitstable and experience the famous sunsets across the Swale. Visit the traditional British seaside town of Herne Bay where a boat can be taken to spot some seals, take a trip back in time on a Thames sailing barge or just take advantage of the delightful beaches. Accommodation overview: This uniquely converted beamed barn, is situated in the depths of the Kentish countryside with beautiful views yet only 7 miles from Canterbury. The Barn enjoys some specially commissioned stained glass panels which beautifully illuminate the kitchen, dining area and conservatory. There are also some individual sculptures for guests to enjoy both inside and outside the house. The property is set in almost 2 acres of gardens which exude peace and tranquillity, and have been divided into different areas, one of which boasts a water feature. There is a large outdoor chess board and the garden, which is partly lit at night, also houses an indoor heated swimming pool. Beyond the garden lie fields and countryside which are great for walking and bird-watching.
The property is ideally placed for visiting historic Canterbury, which offers a rich slice through two thousand years of history, with Roman and early Christian ruins, a Norman castle and a famous cathedral that dominates a medieval warren of time-skewed Tudor buildings. Ashford is ideal for shopping at the Designer Outlet. Trips to Paris can be taken from Ashford International Station or Dover is also nearby for ferries to France. Dover also has a castle perched high on the famous White Cliffs, and Second World War tunnels. Port Lympne Wild Animal Park is ideal for children and houses hundreds of rare animals including elephants, tigers and lions amongst many others. Accommodation overview: Commanding stunning views across the English Channel, this attractive, spacious, family home for all seasons is the ideal property for a relaxing holiday with both friends or relatives. A decked terrace runs the length of the property, an ideal spot for soaking up the sun or relax after a brisk winter walk in front of a glowing log burner in the cosy living room, overlooking the frothing waves. Four of the six bedrooms have sea views and the other two have attractive garden views. There is also a games room. The white chalk cliff above St Margaret’s Bay is said to be the first place the sun reaches each morning on mainland Britain! The beach is famous for being the closest point to France and is the spot where Channel swimmers begin their marathon 21 mile swim.
