Accommodation overview: Ashleigh is located on the seaward side of the beautiful and tranquil village of Bonchurch on the south-east coast of the Isle of Wight. Apart from the basement apartment where the housekeeper resides, with its own entrance and separate garden, the house stands detached within an acre of gardens with large lawns, woodland walks and badger sett giving the feel of being deep in the countryside, yet the sea is only a few hundred yards away. The house combines all modern conveniences with original architectural features such as high ceilings, decorative plasterwork, 8 fireplaces, wooden window shutters, stripped floors, panelled doors and elegant furnishings. Bonchurch is protected by the stunning St Boniface Downs that tower above its coastal location protecting it from northerly winds, giving it the wonderful temperature and climate that attracted wealthy Victorians to the area. There are miles of beautiful coastal and inland walks literally on the doorstep and the unspoilt beachfront at Bonchurch consists of an excellent sand and shingle beach, restaurants and a pottery. Bonchurch also has a village shop and post office, two old churches, a pub, a blacksmith and a brasserie. Ashleigh is also only a 10-minute walk away from the larger resort of Ventnor with its award-winning sandy beach, small boat slipway and haven and promenade pubs serving locally caught fresh fish dishes. Other local attractions include the Botanical Gardens, Osborne House, Cowes, fossil hunting, dinosaur museum, pearl factory and glass blowing. Shop 500 yards. Four steps to entrance.
