Ardvasar is a peaceful place at the end of the road along the Sleat peninsula and the cottage is within easy walking distance of the shoreline, village shop and hotel. Known as the "Garden of Skye" this area has a rich fertile landscape and a fascinating rugged coastline with coves and beaches. It also has a rich cultural heritage and is home to the Scottish Gaelic College, Art Galleries and the Clan Donald Visitor Centre whose beautiful gardens must be seen. The Skye Bridge is 25 miles away and there are good shopping facilities in Kyle of Lochalsh and Broadford, both a half hour drive. The ferry from nearby Armadale crosses to Mallaig for access to the West Highland steam railway.

Accommodation overview: Bayview House was built in the 1920s as a traditional croft house. It has recently been tastefully and sympathetically upgraded and renovated with bright modern bathrooms and kitchen and beautifully coordinated soft furnishings throughout the attractive bedrooms. An original open fireplace in the lounge with lovely deep leather sofas makes this a warm welcoming room at the heart of the house. The views from all the main windows, upstairs and down are arguably some of the most spectacular on Skye with sweeping vistas across Fiskavaig Bay and beyond to the tops of Macleods Tables mountains. Amazing! A two minute walk leads down to the pretty bay, with sand and shingle beach. On the ground floor there is a cosy lounge, separate large dining room, modern family bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs there are two good sized bedrooms and one small bedroom and a further shower room with WC and wash basin. Bayview House is set on the hillside in its own gently sloping garden grounds. Accommodation overview: Imagine having your own private island and staying in the former home of Gavin Maxwell, author of the classic book Ring of Bright Water. Gavin Maxwell Cottage on Eilean Ban situated between Kyleakin on Skye and the Kyle of Lochalsh, on the Scottish mainland, has this unique claim to fame. After the building of the Skye Bridge this former lighthouse keepers cottage is now accessed via a private gate on the side of the Skye Bridge. Eilean Ban (Gaelic for White Island) is 6 acres of pure heaven. Small stone paths meander around the island with colourful shrubs, herbs, heathers and wild grasses covering the hillsides. Gavin Maxwell was one of the foremost authors of wildlife books of the last century, and now his legacy can be enjoyed by all. The island boasts a wonderful array of wildlife. There are frequent sightings of otters, seals and pine marten, as well as occasional dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks and Minke whales, together with an array of seabirds.

Accommodation overview: In a superbly unique location in one of the most scenic and peaceful areas of Skye, this charming cottage will appeal to anyone looking for a quiet, tranquil break with a true feel of 'getting away from it all'. The cottage can only be accessed from a parking bay by a swing footbridge over the River Brittle and a 200 yard uphill footpath - the walk is rewarded by stunning views of the towering Cuillins rising steeply from the shore. The conservatory and garden also enjoy this view. Below the cottage the river enters the sea and there is a beach with naturally dark sand. The cottage is semi-detached with the owner's property and fully modernised with a lovely atmosphere.
Glenbrittle is at the end of a 7 mile single track road with wonderful views at every turn. With direct access, the Cuillins offer challenging climbing and there are lovely walks and viewpoints in the surrounding forests, river and along the shore where an abundance of wildlife and birds can be seen. Seasonal campsite shop 1/2 mile away.

Accommodation overview: In a beautiful wooded location high above Loch Snizort, this delightful detached house enjoys magnificent views over the bay and headlands to the Outer Isles. Well furnished in a comfortable and welcoming manner, the house has a safely enclosed, well kept grassy garden with garden furniture to enjoy the surroundings and watch the island ferry ply to and fro. Uig is a typical West Highland village with attractive white cottages scattered around the bay. There is a good local shop and two hotels are within easy walking distance. The village pottery and the fascinating Isle of Skye Brewery at the harbour welcome visitors. The car ferry offers the opportunity of an intriguing trip to Lewis, Harris, Uist and Benbecula. Uig is in the northern part of the island, half an hour's drive from Portree, and an excellent base for exploring the Trotternish Ridge, the Quirang and the Old Man of Storr where eagles nest.
