Being at the convergence point of four main roads, there is easy access from here to the towns of Gloucester, Worcester, Ledbury and Evesham – these all being within a distance of 15 miles. The pretty Cotswold villages nearby – renowned for their attractive honey-coloured stone houses – stand as witnesses to the prosperous times of the wool trade, when rich merchants during the fourteenth to sixteenth centuries built many of the area’s fine manors and churches from local stone.
