Just a short trip from Ashburnham, one can find expanses of white sand dunes and beaches at Camber, with many other beaches and cliff top walks to be discovered along the entire coast. The Victorian seaside resort of Eastbourne (15 miles), with an indoor swimming-pool, adventure park and new Sovereign Harbour complex, still retains a sense of its opulent past. Royal Tunbridge Wells and the famous Pantiles are 18 miles away. Batemans, the home of Rudyard Kipling, is 5 miles away at Burwash. There are also numerous National Trust and English Heritage sites in the locality.
Activities offered locally include trout fishing (fly only) in Ashburnham, Bewl and Darwell reservoirs. Horse riding, four golf courses plus fantastic cycling and walking.
