There are good local pubs and walks, and a sandy beach 1 mile away as well as a shingle beach on the doorstep. Rose Cottage provides a convenient base to explore the delights of the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Take a trip on the historic foot and cycle ferry (seasonal) from Bawdsey Quay to the seaside town of Felixstowe. By road travel north and visit Snape with its famous Maltings, concert hall and galleries, or the bustling market town of Woodbridge. Visit Bawdsey Manor (home of radar) or the ancient NT Saxon burial ground at Sutton Hoo, 5 miles. Slightly further afield are the seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold, Framlingham and Orford with their historic castles and the RSPB reserve at Minsmere.
