"Cosy cottage in a picture postcard village beautiful walking opportunities (starting almost on the doorstep) looking over the see from almost every hill. The white cliffs of the South Downs the meander in the Cuckmere Valley and the Pier and shopping centres of Eastbourne and Brighton nearby. A nice pub with excellent food as a neighbour without any nuisance."

"We enjoyed a long weekend here trying to finish the eastern end of the South Downs Way. The cottage itself was very comfortable had everything we needed (and some things we didn't - who needs a flan dish on holiday?!). It was well equipped and the wood burner made it very cosy (tip - pick up wood for the burner on walks out - there's loads in the forest nearby). Right next to the cottage is the Eight Bells pub we went there for drinks one night and it was warm friendly and the menu looked good it was also busy if that's a good sign. We spent our 4 days walking and were very lucky with the weather getting 31 miles completed. I can recommend the bus route 12 and 12A that goes along the coast road runs every 15 minutes and means you can do one way walks and leave the car behind. Numerous tea shops in Alfriston the Singing Kettle we tried and had very good scones. Also the pub in Litlington does an excellent range of beer and the food looked good again. The hotel in Birling Gap does a cracking cup of tea. Best of all is Franny Lulu's greasy spoon cafe right by Newhaven Town. station - brilliant for a fry up while waiting for a train! For food the Co-op in Polegate is well stocked with easy parking behind. "
