Southwold and Aldborough on the Suffolk Heritage Coast are a little further afield and well worth a day trip. Thetford Forest, Bressingham Steam Museum and Banham Zoo are a short drive. The village of Mundesley is an excellent location for a seaside holiday. It has a wonderful wide beach backed by a small promenade and a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. There is a golf course and driving range in the village with both horse riding and sea fishing available locally. Historic houses, steam trains, water sports and nature reserves are all within a short drive.

Dell Cottage is in a wonderful position for a seaside holiday, being only two minutes walk from the beach and the centre of the village. The area is great for both cycling and walking, with a network of country lanes, and Sparham Pools Nature Reserve is close by and provides excellent walks and bird watching. The fine city of Norwich is just thirteen miles away and there are many attractions in the area to suit all ages.

The Orchard and The Stables (property 865) are character single-storey barn conversions, which are situated in the peaceful hamlet of Primrose Green, surrounded by farmland, one mile from Lyng. The Village of Chedgrave lies in the Chet Valley in the south of Norfolk in the Broad National Park and provides a good base to visit the East Norfolk and Suffolk Heritage Coasts, Southern Broadland and the Waveney Valley with the market Towns of Bungay and Beccles. The fine Cathedral city of Norwich is within easy reach just 10 miles away. The adjoining village of Loddon has a good selection of shops and Pubic Houses with day boat hire available from the nearby staithe. Alternatively you may enjoy the pleasant River Chet Walk to Hardley Cross , which is part of the longer Wherrymans Way Norwich to Great Yarmouth footpath or the National Cycle route 1 both of which run past the property. This area is excellent for wildlife with a number of RSPB and other nature reserves nearby well worth a visit. Fishing in season is available from the nearby river 100yds away.

Once an important place of pilgrimage, the ruins of Bromholm Priory are still to be seen in Bacton today. The Priory was built in 1113 AD by William de Glanville and was home to the Cluniacs, the Black Monks who purchased a piece of the True Cross, the Bromholm Roode. Ensuing miracles ensured visits by many thousands of pilgrims including King Henry III. The Priory was mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the Domesday Book, and was the subject of a prediction in Mother Shipton's Almanac.

Today the coastal village opens its doors to the 21st century pilgrims who visit for their holidays. They enjoy the friendly village atmosphere and the sandy beaches, which are often quiet even in the height of summer. There is a good range of local amenities including pubs, shops, a children's playground and a bowling green.

These four beautifully refurbished cottages are set in the extensive mature and secure gardens and grounds of the 16th century Grade II listed Pilgrims House, which was once the farmhouse of Bromholm Priory. Gardens: Each cottage has its own private area with table, chairs and gas barbecue. There is shared use of the extensive gardens with a summerhouse, outdoor chess set and croquet.

Swimming Pool: At the centre of the complex the 16th Century Grade II listed, thatched barn houses a large 13 x 6 metre heated indoor swimming pool and has exposed beams and stained glass windows, with sauna, shower and wc The pool, with an average year round temperature of 30c, is available for all guests and it may be used between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

There is no lifeguard, so an adult must supervise children at all times and nobody can use the pool area on their own.

Exercise Room & Laundry: On the first floor of the gig house/wood store is an exercise room with exercise bike, weights, air hockey and a pool table. The laundry area has a washing machine and tumble dryer for guests to use free of charge. There are also irons and ironing boards.

Parking: There is a private car park with parking for one car per property with further free public parking available 30 metres away in Abbey Street.
Pets: One very well-behaved dog per cottage

Pilgrims Cottage was the original cottage in the Pilgrims collection and it has recently been refurbished. It was built in the 18th century and thatched in Norfolk reed. The cottage is laid out on the ground floor and has a real feel of traditional rural life.
